Kraken DiveWorks offers SDI advanced recreational and TDI technical dive training — built around precision, small classes, and real-world readiness. Every course is taught by our SDI/TDI Master Instructors in Newington, CT.
SDI — Advanced Recreational
Scuba Diving International (SDI) courses are designed for certified divers who want to build genuine competence — not just collect cards. These programs develop the judgment, skills, and situational awareness that separate capable divers from the rest.
Advanced Diver Development
Builds core skills across five specialty areas — buoyancy, navigation, deep, night, and more. The most practical next step for any certified diver.
Prerequisites: Open Water or equivalent
Rescue Diver
The most transformative course most divers will ever take. Develops awareness, discipline, and emergency response skills in yourself and others.
Prerequisites: SDI Advanced Diver; current first aid/CPR
Drysuit Diver
Essential for the Northeast and Great Lakes. Covers drysuit selection, valve systems, buoyancy management, and failure scenarios.
Prerequisites: Open Water or equivalent
Navigation
Builds compass use, natural navigation, distance estimation, and search patterns into reliable, repeatable habits under real dive conditions.
Prerequisites: Open Water or equivalent
Night Diving
Light management, team positioning, communication, and situational control — skills that sharpen your diving in any conditions.
Prerequisites: Open Water or equivalent
Search & Recovery
Systematic search patterns, lift bag operation, and object recovery. Practical skills with direct carry-over to wreck and technical diving.
Prerequisites: Open Water or equivalent
Solo Diver
Builds the self-sufficiency that makes you a safer diver in any configuration. Gas planning, redundant systems, and emergency procedures.
Prerequisites: SDI Rescue Diver; 100 logged dives
Sidemount Diver
Improved trim, redundant gas, and access to restricted environments. Develops cylinder positioning, valve management, and buoyancy control.
Prerequisites: Open Water; strong buoyancy recommended

TDI — Technical Diving
Technical Diving International (TDI) courses take divers beyond recreational limits — into decompression diving, mixed gases, and penetration environments. These programs demand discipline and preparation. They reward divers who are ready to train seriously.
Intro to Tech
The honest entry point. Back-gas configuration, long-hose donation, DIR fundamentals, and the mindset shift required for technical work.
Prerequisites: SDI Rescue Diver; 25 logged dives
Advanced Nitrox
EANx from 21% to 100% oxygen as bottom or deco gas. Gas analysis, oxygen exposure tracking, and CNS management. Typically paired with Deco Procedures.
Prerequisites: TDI Intro to Tech; 25 logged dives
Decompression Procedures
Core technical qualification. Staged deco execution, gas switching, and emergency deco management. Required before Extended Range or Trimix.
Prerequisites: TDI Advanced Nitrox or concurrent enrollment
